A friend takes a two-wheeler on loan. He fails to pay EMIs after some time and goes absconding. Someone calls me and identifies calling from the auto finance company saying he has given my number as a reference. They ask me any of his alternate numbers. I do not have any number except the number they have. He is not taking any calls. The auto finance company calling me every day and it now feels harassment. What risks am I exposed to considering I had no idea he gave my number as a reference. How can I stop them from calling me?

Had you signed any document presenting you as guarantor in the case? If you had not signed anywhere then you are safe because simply giving any one's Phone Number will not prove anyone as Guarantor.
