I m an Architect residing in Mumbai. I had surrendered my registration with a council of architecture in 2005 (as at that time I was not working on the same), by sending them a letter attached with my original registration certificate. When I contacted them recently for reactivation of the registration they said that they had not received any communication from me regarding surrendering of registration & I was levied a fine of Rs. 65000/- as dues for all these years. I want to know that for postal /departmental mistakes why should I bear the fine/expenses. Can anything be done about this? Please guide.
