It is better and advisable to remain present for both the parties on the effective dates of hearing. But on certain occasions when only formal routine it so be meet with then you can manage to skip with the advice of the counsel.

In all family court cases the presence of the litigants are must and expected. The reason being the court would understand the situation better in the presence of both parties and incase if either party does not appear the other party can get an order in their favour. but in case of crisis and inevitable situation the counsel appointed by the litigants can represent. during trial stages and during mediation only if both the parties are present a speedy remedy would be arrived at.
