municipal authorities and local bodies generally have powers to require owners to maintain vacant plots and remove conditions that create health hazards or nuisances. Residents can also seek action against public nuisances through administrative complaints and, in some cases, through a Magistrate. Take dated photographs and videos of: Overgrown vegetation Mosquito breeding/stagnant water Snakes (if safely possible) Foul-smelling waste Marble debris blocking or affecting the road File a written complaint Municipal Corporation / Nagar Nigam Panchayat (if in a rural area) Local health or sanitation department Get support from residents A joint complaint signed by tenants and nearby residents often receives more attention than an individual complaint. If authorities do not act Escalate to the District Administration or local Executive Magistrate. A complaint regarding public nuisance may be pursued before the competent Magistrate.
