Obc Non Creamy Layer

Dear frined, Your fathers income is more than eight lakhs. Government of India has increased the OBC non-creamy layer income limit to 8 lacs p.a. Earlier the limit was 6 lacs p.a. Now students whose parents annual income is less than 8 lacs p.a. can avail the benefit of reservation at IIMs and other Government institutes. The income limit to be eligible for reservation has been revised from time to time taking various economic factors into consideration. The income limit was initially set at 1 lakh p.a. in 1993, thereafter it was raised to 2.5 lakhs p.a. in 2004 and then it was increased to 4.5 lakhs p.a. in 2008 and then to 6 lakhs p.a in 2013. The income in this definition refers only to the income of the parents and not the candidate's income. OBC candidates who fall under creamy layer are treated as general category and they do not have any reservation at the Government institutions.
