supreme Court has clearly says that witness should be examined on the same day ,cross examination should not be deferred in each and every case reason should be mentioned before any defer of cross examination

Dear Sir, Actually there will be no limitation while cross examination but as it is before charge so it must be restricted by presiding officer. It cannot be elaborate cross examination as charge yet to be framed. Prima facie case is sufficient.

It depends upon the gravity of the case if some vital points are not coverd to prove those the accused, the counsel can recall the complainant for cross examination. and it also be allowed under any changes circumstances no limit is fixed by the statute.
