Dear Sir,
On one night, I was riding a bicycle on a two-lane road (that has a concrete barrier in between) against the direction of traffic (traffic on left side road of the two-lane is on my direction, traffic on the right side is against my direction. I am on the left hand side of the road on the right side).
As I was riding, a motorbike came speeding towards me and even though I was on the very left corner of the lane- very close to the middle barrier, the motorbike collided with my bicycle; it's metal foot rest (which I believe was like a bullet's), got caught on the bicycle peddle and it (the motorbike) got flung into the air and landed several meters away crashing heavily onto the ground. The collision was extremely horrific and I'm absolutely certain the the rider suffered-at minimum life-long injuries, if not death, due to the accident. From my recollection the person was not wearing a helmet. Surprisingly only my bicycle peddle got twisted in the collision and I came off the incident completely unharmed. I fled the scene panicking heavily.
It's been several years since.
Could you please tell me what are the maximum legal implications for me in this incident (if I were to confess this to the police).
Please note that I was not under any awareness that I was breaking any law. Meaning, if I had seen a police officer as I was riding at the same spot, I would not have expected him to stop me or question me on the place or manner in which I'm driving. To this day, I don't know whether I have broken any law. Please consider my ignorance of law while applying any law against my action, as I believe the court will do during any evaluation.
Thanks a lot for your time.
