You first need to understand the actual intention of your wife's family and accordingly you need to take the decision. Two seniors has already provided the legal explanation to your question but if your Wife's family is actually not ready for mutual divorce and just playing with you to remove the present petition then you need to be careful.

Dear Sir, You can file an application under Order 23 Rule 1 of Civil Procedure Code saying that matter is compromised and divorce decree may be allowed in terms of compromise thus it will have logical end as per the mutual terms which may be agreed between you and your wife and you will get mutual divorce without withdrawing your present divorce petition. Please give me rank after viewing my details. Please call me for further assistance.
