Hi, I rented a 3BHK last year paying 10 months rent as security deposit. 11 month lease expired in Jan 2018. We kept negotiating until April but couldn't agree on key clauses. I was asked to vacate within 2 months. I vacated on 15th May and made the house available for inspection immediately. Inspection was completed on 27th May since owner's relatives were not available until weekends and no major issues found. Landlord refunded deposit on 10th June, after deducting full month rent and maintenance for May and 10% increase since Feb since it was mentioned in expired agreement. The keys are still with me because I said I will handover on the day I get the cheque / DD for the full refund. What are my options. Can I file FIR and criminal case for cheating. Owner resides in US and has no representatives in India
