This is my response to you: 1. Do not pay the high rent; 2. If you not signed any agreement for high rent then you are not bound by it; 3. He will send you a legal notice and then file eviction suit; 4. Continue paying the old rent and then vacate the premises after how much ever time you need; 5. Consult a local lawyer if you have agreed to terms of payment of high rent.

you stay in the same flat. let him file eviction suit , where you can file your reply and you can provide reason that I cannot vacate the flat due to the following reasons and ask court to give some time to vacate. court will easily give you time to vacate.
