Mayakrishnan sir given you correct answer you can follow his advice.
You need not and should not resign your job at any cost.
You are a citizen of this democratic country. On the date of attaining 18 years of age you have become a legally declared major. You are entitled for all the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India. The scope of these rights is beyond imagination of even well learned. You need not go to any court or Police station in the present situation you are juxtaposed with. You tell your parents or your adversaries what ever you call them that you have talked to a senior lawyer and obtained necessary advice in the matter according to which you are legally entitled to marry anyone of your choice and live life at such place of your convenience and if they continue to treat you as in the past you will be forced to leave them and lead a peaceful independent life with the man of your mind. Mind it that if they have no income, or incapable of maintaining themselves and there are no other to person to take care of them, then only you are legally liable to suffer them. Tell these things to them bluntly. I am sure they will come to your way and stop harassing you. If this does not work you leave them and start living independently and separately. But you should not forget that they are your parents brought you to this world, toiled their life and sacrificed a lot to bring you to this level and the foundation of what you are today. You have moral and pious duty to look after them when they are weak. What you pay to them now will be a debt awaiting you when you too will be aged, weak and crippled. As you sow so shall you reap. Your children will look after you then if you look after your parents now. You can call me at 09037937975 or 09847801134 if you need more clarity. Generally I don't give a lengthy answer or advice but in this case life of your parents is also at bargain which pressed me to this exercise.
