He didn't give a receipt for the payment since I have done the payment from outstation. But I have transferred it online through ICICI bank and also I have WhatsApp messages as evidence of the conversation we had about the deposit and all, now he is not picking up my call and not returning my deposit, Is there any way I can have my deposit back.

Whatsapp msg and Bank statement is well enough for Civil and Criminal case.. First file police complaint..

u have to file a suit for recovery in the court. even can try by moving an application to the police.
