Property Transfer

My father passed away 2 years ago, now I want to transfer house from his name to my mom's and mine (only son), have hired a lawyer for this. We have appeared for 5 hearings, 3 were for the public proclamation and 2 for compliance and the next one is also for compliance. He has taken 7k from us till now, and for 3 out of total hearing he only made us go with him sign for the next date and that's all, also he has taken money for publishing an advertisement of notice in the newspaper and he says it is done but has given no evidence, now when I ask him for a newspaper cut out of the advertise he refuses to me to give and gives me reasonsns. Now he is also canceling the coming date, he seems to be a really nice guy, talks calmly too, but can't see any work happening. Can someone please explain the detailed and honest procedure for doing this, and please can someone tell me how to do this without a lawyer (no offense), please someone help me with the honest procedure
