Helped Someone Unknowingly

On a certain day, one of my past company colleague who lives in another state called me and said that he is having some personal issues with somebody and wants to move to my city for safety of family. I gave him a real estate agent number and he took a rented home near my sociaty and started living there with whole family (mom dad, siblings, wife and kid). I helped him like giving a matress etc once and never met again for 3 months. After 3 months he called me and said that they are emptying the flat and going back to there state. He submitted the flat keys to me so that his owner collected keys from me. After 15 days, a person called me and said that my colleague and his family had been arrested by police in between those 3 months which I was unaware of. Also they were not supposed to be in another state as per ordered by court but still they emptied there rented flat. My question is, can I get into any legal trouble in this whole situation. The last person who called me was the opposite party and said that my colleague did a property fraud to him and running a case.
